DIY Mocha Body Scrub

DIY Mocha Body Scrub

I have been loving the weather lately, but my skin…not so much. It has been very dry, which makes it itchy and doesn’t look great either. My weapons to help fight the dry flaky skin? Moisturizing and exfoliating. You can tackle both with this super easy, super awesome DIY mocha body scrub. It has just four simple ingredients and takes only a few minutes to make. And bonus–it smells amazing! Good enough to eat (which I wouldn’t know from experience of course…ok I might have tried some)

DIY Mocha Body Scrub | A Sip of Bliss

Unless you have been living under a rock or are new to the internet, you probably have heard people talking about the benefits of coconut oil. It moisturizes and nourishes your dry, thirsty skin. The sugar exfoliates to get rid of dead skin cells and allows the oil to penetrate and do its job. You could stop after those two ingredients and have a great scrub, but I added coffee and cocoa to give it even more skin beautifying qualities.

The caffeine in the coffee helps firm the skin and reduce swelling. I’m sure you have heard of cocoa butter being used in beauty products, but cocoa powder also has its benefits. It is rich in antioxidants and has anti aging properties.

DIY Mocha Body Scrub | A Sip of Bliss

Supplies
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/2 c melted coconut oil
  • 1/4 c finely ground coffee
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
Directions
  • Combine all ingredients and store in an air tight container.

Coffee and cocoa scrubs are hands down my favorite of all them. I love the smell of the two of them together and the coffee is so invigorating. The caffeine really wakes your skin up and helps let more nutrients in. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

It would make great Christmas presents! It makes about 1 1/2 cups. All of the ingredients are shelf stable so it can last for months (or even longer) but it will probably get used up before then ;)
